Set beside a tranquil pond on Martha's Vineyard, this project exemplifies refined design and ecological mindfulness, creating a setting of comfort and deep appreciation for nature. It seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living, serving as an extension of the home for year-round enjoyment while honoring local ecology.

The layout fosters connectivity between the main house, barn, pool house, terrace, and pool. The ground plane extends from indoor spaces to outdoor terraces, establishing a unified elevation that enhances continuity. Sliding doors lead to a terrace reflecting the interior’s scale, allowing for smooth transitions between environments.  Linear bluestone pathways but through the meadow grass to provide circulation between the main house and barn.

Native plantings like switchgrass, little bluestem, bayberry, and summersweet enrich the landscape, softening edges and providing seasonal interest. A thoughtfully designed covered connector by the project architect links the main and pool houses, creating a transparent enclosure that shelters while framing unobstructed views of the picturesque surroundings.

The pool is strategically positioned close to the house, functioning as an inviting outdoor room. Enclosed by grasses and cohesive paving materials, it balances intimacy with openness. Weathered wood and galvanized mesh fencing mirror the architectural materials of the main structure, reinforcing aesthetic unity.

This landscape design celebrates design with ecological sensitivity, where each element contributes to comfort, connectivity, and the beauty of the natural environment.
