Longhorn Ridge

Napa, CA

Project Description

This project in the Napa Valley represents a modern take on the summer camp for a family of four. The design rests on simplicity of form and material, and respect for the site and its ecology. These concepts drove the landscape master plan, which preserves and amplifies the beauty of the 68-acre site while seamlessly integrating house, pool, and other areas for family activity. We planted native grasses liberally throughout, beginning at the edge of the house and extending outward until they blend into the existing landscape. This continuity grounds the varied landscape and architectural components and dissolves the boundaries between the designed and native landscapes.
